February artist of the month

Patty Caldwell Turner

Patty Caldwell Turner has been a professional clay artist since 1980.  Her work has been featured in galleries nationwide and in exhibitions such as Baker University’s International Orton Cone Box Show in 1994 and 1996.

Patty has experience in many types of kiln firing methods such as raku, wood, oxidation, gas reduction, and primitive pit firings.  She enjoys the versatility of clay because it allows her to create sculptural works, as well as functional pieces.

Lizards, frogs, and other animals on her vessels have become a signature feature, and her raku angels are collected by admirers around the world.  She also enjoys working in a variety of other mediums, including glass, oils, acrylics, and watercolors.  In addition, some of her works blend various media and natural materials.

Patty holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.  Patty was one of the founders of the Clay department at Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department, where she was an instructor for both adults and children for 21 years.  She also served as Camp Director for the department’s Summer Day Camps.  Patty has also instructed at Folk Art Schools, Artist Retreats, and art workshops in several states.

Patty is now residing in the Texas Hill Country, where she continues to pursue her art.

In the bottom left hand corner of the Camp Wood Public Library General Catalog, you will see three menu icons: Visit Us, Contact Us, and Kids’ Catalog.  Select and left click on the Kids’ Catalog icon.  You will be redirected to a page that looks like the Kids’ Catalog page below.  You will see over sixty-eight subject icons.  These subject icons search for books that are Stories (Fiction) and books that are Facts (Nonfiction).  You will see these two icons in the bottom left hand corner of the Kid’s Catalog page.  When the catalog is first opened, the icons default automatically to books that are Stories (Fiction.) You can select to switch back and forth to Stories and Facts. Try the two icons on the bottom right hand corner to view those page results. In the top right hand corner, you will notice an icon for General Catalog.  You can alternate back and forth to the General Catalog and the Kids’ Catalog.  No kids’ books have been removed from the General Catalog to create the Kids’ Catalog.  All library items can be searched for and viewed on the General Catalog.
